The Hostel

Eplet has 23 beds in two houses. The white house was the home of the local sherriff, his office is today's reception, and the old prison cell is still in the basement. The red house was once a small barn with two cows and plenty of sheep. Today these buildings have 5 double rooms, 2 triple rooms and one 7-bed dormitory. In the garden there are two tipis with 4-5 mattresses and tent space for campers.

Eplet has 5 double rooms and 2 triple rooms with balcony. All the rooms were renovated in 2016 and have the same fantastic fjord view. The 2 triple rooms have their own balcony. The rooms are very basic, clean and practical. Bedclothes and towels are included and there is a shared shower and toilet just outside the rooms. We don't offer any luxury, but we guarantee that you will feel at home.

The dormitory is a basic 7-bed mixed room. The beds can be moved together to make a double bed if you like. We have single travellers, couples and families from all over the world staying here and that works just fine. Bedclothes and towels are included.

In the garden we have one 5-mattress tipi and one smaller tipi for couples. You get a good mattress and bedclothes plus plenty of fresh air. Mosquitoes are not really a problem in Solvorn, so you can sleep easy. The big tipi is popular for families, but be aware that the campsite is quiet and not the place to play.

Tent Camping

We have a small car free campsite with fantastic fjord view. It is perfect for smaller tents and people that want to use Eplet as a basecamp for activities and stay a few days.

The campsite has no electricity and no space for camper vans or cars. In high season July and August we have a minimum of 3 nights stay, and less space for bigger tents. Our campsite is a quiet place to relax after active days - keep this in mind if you are a family with small children. No dogs allowed.

There is a separate shower and toilet for campers on the campground. There is a well equipped kitchen that you can use, and other facilities available. You have to be a bit restricted using the common facilities in high season, as private rooms have priority in the main house. But you have the best location in the world for a BBQ:)

Food & Eating

We don't serve breakfast. Both houses have newly-renovated kitchens that you should treat like home. Be aware that we dont have any grocery in the village, so bring supplies. We have basic items like bread, milk, butter, cheese, pasta, rise etc. in the reception. There are 6 km to the nearest grocery, If you stay for a week we can take you there for shopping.

The dining table in the living room has a quite extraordinary view. Eplet is a place to enjoy a nice and long relaxed dinner with a blottle of wine.

In the warm summer evenings you can sit on the terrace or enjoy a BBQ outside. If you want to eat out you can choose between the the cozy cafee down in the village or a 5-course dinner at Wallaker Hotel.

Facilities

Eplet hostel has only 23 beds across two houses. The main white house has 2 double rooms and 2 triple rooms. It also has one shower, 2 toilets, a good kitchen and a big living room with a nice balcony and hummocks outside. The red house has 3 double rooms and a 7-bed dormitory. It has one shower, 2 toilets, a good kitchen with an indoor climbing wall and a big terrace outside. In the basement of the red house there is one shower and 2 toilets for the campers.

We have a big garden with hummocks and a vegetable garden you can enjoy. In the garage we have 20 well-maintained mountain bikes and equipment for the famous Eplet Crocket Golf. In the basement of the white house there is washing and drying room.

In the reception we sell homemade juice and jam, basic food supplies, Eplet t-shirts, postcards, maps and local guidebooks. In the livingroom we have games like backgammon and cards.

The Hosts

It all started when Trond Henrik moved here in 2002. After years of travelling all around on a push bike he wanted to share this fantastic location that once used to be the house of his grand uncle, the local sherrif. The hostel started. The juice factory came quite naturally, to make local products from local resources must be one of the most meaningful things you can do. Agnethe came in 2012. Sigvart came in 2019. Together our small family live a good sustainable life at Eplet, producing vegetables, local juice and good memories for you!

We wish you welcome to our little paradise on earth - Eplet Bed & Apple

Every year some nice people are staying at Eplet for three or four months picking fruit, producing juice and helping take care of the guests.
